Advanced Seminar on International Humanitarian Law

A three day Advanced Seminar on International Humanitarian Law for the members of the Armed Forces of Sri Lanka is being held on 03rd,04th and 05th of July 2017, at General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) as a collaborative effort of the Faculty of Law, KDU and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) Delegation in Colombo.
The main objective of this seminar is to give the participants, who were already inculcated with a basic knowledge of different aspects of International Humanitarian Law (IHL), an opportunity to update themselves on the current trends and latest developments in law. It is expected that this seminar would assist the trainers in Armed Forces to disseminate the knowledge gained through the training to their subordinates. Mr. Konstantions D. Mortopoulos, Armed and Security Forces Delegate of the ICRC is the resource person of the Seminar.
The Chief Guest of the opening ceremony will be the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Defence and Administration, Brigadier Indunil Ranasinghe. The Resource Person of the seminar and Regional Armed and Security Forces Delegate of the ICRC Mr. Konstantions D. Mortopoulos, Dean of the Faculty of Law Mr. WM Amaradasa, Communication Officer, ICRC, Mr. Channa Jayawardena, academic and administrative staff of Faculty of Law, and other military officers will be presented at the occasion.
