The Oath Ceremony, Department of Nursing and Midwifery, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences -2016
The Oath Ceremony of Intake 31 Nursing undergraduates were held successfully on 23rd March, 2016 at Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Werahera. Mrs.SLH Vithanarachchi who rendered a great service to the Nursing profession in Sri Lanka was the chief guest of the occasion. The Vice chancellor of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University, Rear Admiral JJ Ranasinghe and many distinguished guests graced this ceremony.
The Oath is a statement of ethics & principles of the nursing profession. One hundred and eight nursing students of Intake 31 batch took the oath in their second year on successful completion of the module on Fundamentals of Nursing.This is a solemn ceremony where the oath is taken by receiving the lamp and the nursing cap. The students achieved the first milestone in their career by taking the oath, reminding them the duties and responsibilities of nursing professionals while developing greater confidence in them.
