Fulbright Scholarship

Miss.Tharaki Sathyavi Hettiarachchi has pursued her primary and secondary education from Girls’ High School in Kandy. After successfully completing her G.C.E (A/L) examination, she joined General Sir John Kotelawela Defence University (KDU) and she is currently an Undergraduate in the Department of Quantity Surveying, Faculty of Build Environment and Spatial Sciences, at KDU Southern Campus, Sri-Lanka.

She has been offered a Fulbright scholarship through the Global Undergraduate Exchange Program which is sponsored by the United State Department of States Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs through the Embassy of USA in Colombo, to undertake a course of study at Tennessee Tech University, America. She strongly believes that an exposure to the American society and culture will be of immense benefit for the development for her future education. She hopes to enhance her knowledge on various subjects and identify modern technologies in the field of quantity surveying through expert knowledge gained through this program and to contribute to her mother country once she returns.

She is a brilliant undergraduate and an outstanding research student. She has proven her keenness and ability to carry out research work in the field of Quantity Surveying under the areas of “Preliminary Analysis impact of foreign labour participation on the construction industry in Sri Lanka in comparison with secondary education leaves” and “City plans and construction technologies in colonial Sri Lanka” as current researches and obtained a sound knowledge in all core areas.

Miss Tharaki Hettiarachchi has also reflected her painting ability throughout the world. She has held international art exhibitions in Mahabodhi center India, as well as in Ye-De-Te-Pe University, Istanbul, Turkey, at the world congress related to health challenges of the third millennium. Furthermore, she has also participated in the programs undertaken on behalf of Syrian refugees at Uppsala, Sweden and has had many international mobility experiences in Germany, Sweden etc.
