Faculty of Engineering at Genaral Kotelawala Defence University is Formally established with the appointment of its founder Dean Prof. H Y Ranjit Perera
Prof. H Y Ranjit Perera has assumed duties as Dean, Faculty of Engineering at the Kotelawala Defence University (KDU) with effect from 3rd October 2011. Engineering Education at the KDU (initially KDA) started in 1981and 26 batches of Engineering Graduates have been produced up to now. KDU is now being restructured with newly formed Faculties. Prof. Perera starts as the founder Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, The Faculty of Engineering consists of six academic Departments and currently conducts undergraduate courses on Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electronic and Electrical Engineering, Marine Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. Keeping to the corporate plan of the University, the Engineering Faculty will be introducing a new undergraduate course on Information & Communication Technology and two Master’s Courses on Aeronautical Engineering and Marine Engineering in 2012. First ever Faculty meeting chaired by Prof. Perera was held on 06th October 2011 and was graced by the Vice Chancellor of the University Major General Milinda Peiris
