Guest Lecture on "Safe and Sustainable Construction"
Professor Priyanth Wijayatunga is presently serving in the South Asia Department of the Asian Development Bank as a Senior Energy Specialist involved in energy sector operations in Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Maldives and in regional energy cooperation. He graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Moratuwa Sri Lanka specializing in Electrical Engineering and holds a PhD in Power Economics from Imperial College, London. He was a Beit Scientific research Fellow of Imperial College London. He gas experience in energy sector policy making, regulatory and Climate Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka, a member of the Ceylon Electricity Board, Professor of Electrical Engineering and Founder Dean, Faculty of IT, University of Moratuwa. He has been a resource person in energy and climate change activities of the World Bank. UNDP, UNFCCC, USAID, UNIDO, APEC and SAARC. He was the Chairman, South Asia Forum for Infrastructure Regulators (2006/07). He is a Past President of the Sri Lanka Energy Managers Association. He is a Chartered Engineer, a Member of the Institute of Engineering Technology UL and the Institution of Engineers Sri Lanka. He is also a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, USA. He was recently appointed as the Visiting Professor in Electrical Engineering to the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University.
