Ranjit Perera

Prof. Ranjit Perera, an engineering graduate from University of Moratuwa obtained his Dipl.-Ing and PhD from University of Technology Aaken, Germany. After working on a post doctoral research assignment at the same University for three years, he returned to Sri Lanka to work as a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Moratuwa. In recognition of his contribution to the field of Electrical Engineering he was promoted to the post of Professor in Electrical Engineering in January 2004. He headed the Department of Electrical Engineering from May 2004 to March 2008 and played the leading role in establishing the MSc courses in Electrical Installations and Industrial Automation. Heis an award winning researcher having over 25 national and international publications to his credit in the areas of Power system reliability, rural electrification and performance evaluation of communication systems. Prof. Perera, also served as the Director General/CEO of Public Utilities Commission from April 2008 to December 2009.
