Launching of the Advanced WI FI facility

Internet has been a pivotal facility for university education in the modern world for knowledge sharing and various co-curricular and extracurricular activities. Therefore, spreading Wi-Fi hotspots and portable devices has become a much-needed requirement in the university culture.  In fact, changing into IT facilitated environment from the traditional university education in keeping with modern norms and efficient practices is accepted from any well-recognized university in the global education scenario.

Currently, the available IT facilities at KDU are not adequate mainly due to the immense growth of student population in the recent years and the increase of the use of IT facilities in modern university education. In particular, the WI FI facilities had to be developed to cater the needs of the students since students who read for all most all the degree programmes of KDU have to be engaged in researches and self-access learning activities much more than the previous years.

Therefore, the university planned to upgrade the available IT infrastructure facilities. Accordingly, the steps have been taken to upgrade the WI FI facility to provide WI FI services freely for 24/7 covering up the whole vicinity of the university with high speed and huge bandwidth.

The upgraded WI FI facility was launched on 1st of March, 2017 by Rear Admiral JJ Ranasinghe USP, psc, Vice Chancellor of KDU. Brigadier IP Ranasinghe RWP RSP ndu psc Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Admin), Snr Prof Jayantha Ariyarathne Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Col DLSU De Silva USP, Director CITS & DS, Senior Officers of Tri Services, Academia and non – academic Staff, Cadets & Day Scholars of the University witnessed this memorable occasion.
