Computing and Information Technology touches nearly every aspect of modern life and is a fast-growing area where professional opportunities of high potential are generated. In today’s world, highly skilled professionals are needed more than ever before in the field of computing. Thus, enabling them to take the social responsibility of generating knowledge and solving social issues through cutting edge technology. Therefore, our ultimate goal is to provide leading competent professionals to the Military and to the Industry at large, those who can face these challenges with a positive attitude and using technical and theoretical knowledge for the betterment of society through advanced learning. We are committed to be in the forefront of providing quality education to produce graduates of high calibre who could deliver smart and sustainable solutions.
The Faculty of Computing of the General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University is the first Computing Faculty established in the Sri Lankan state university system dedicated to offer abroad range of Computing Degree Programmes. We offer five-degree programmes in the discipline of Computing. They are BSc (Hons) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering and Software Engineering under the department of Computer Science and BSc (Hons) in Information Technology and Information systems under the department of Information Technology. As the Dean, I am happy note that we are practicing internationally accepted stranded in the development of our course curricula. Thus, encouraging research and innovations.
