Commencement of Construction of the Female Accommodation Building at Werahera

KDU aims to provide improved higher educational experiences of international standards for KDU undergraduates and postgraduate students. In view of that, the infrastructure facilities of KDU are being developed with the inclusion of the latest teaching, learning and support facilities.

Accordingly, the construction work of the proposed Female Accommodation Building at Werahera, with ultra-modern facilities commenced on 16th September 2021. The project with an estimated cost of LKR 299,504,221.78 (VAT included) is expected to be completed within 250 days. The event was graced by Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Vice Chancellor of KDU and Mrs. Malini Kotelawala, whom kindly donated the land which the building is built on. Other distinguished guests including President of the Project Management Unit 2 and Dean of Faculty of Built Environment and Spatial Sciences, Dr. A.H. Lakmal, Senior military officers, members of Project Management Unit 2 also graced the occasion with the participation of the officials from the Darinton Construction (Pvt) Ltd, the Contractors for the project.
