To educate surveying professionals to meet the societal and modern technological challenges through creation and dissemination, knowledge and technology and the development provisions at innovative solutions. 


Graduate Profile

To produce graduate who has a sound knowledge and competency in geo-measurement capturing, processing, interpretation, analysis and presentation of terrestrial, oceanic, airborne and spaceborne geo-spatial data for scientific and professional needs in sustainable, rational, innovative and creative manner as professionals as well as responsible and accountable citizens.


Programming Outcomes 

The basic learning outcomes that must be demonstrated by the students at the end of the programme are



  • To identify and apply appropriate concepts of Spatial Sciences to solve problems and analyze data relating to geospatial applications.
  • To integrate and apply appropriate technologies within a framework of accuracy of time and financial constraints.
  • To constitute, develop and maintain standards for geospatial applications and systems.
  • To conduct surveying practices logically, rationally and legally.
  • To demonstrate responsibilities and self-learning skills by critical reflection and being proactive.
  • To comply with Sri Lankan and International professional standards. 



  • To apply basic surveying concepts and methods to design and organize Spatial Sciences related projects.
  • To design and apply advance surveying/geodetic measurements for cadastral, engineering, hydrographical, mining, geodetic and deformation monitoring applications.
  • To apply appropriate mathematical, statistical and computer knowledge for solving problems and analyzing data.
  • To think critically and creatively to generate innovative and optimal solutions.
  • To work ethically and professionally both, within a group and individually.
