Dr. Anuji Gamage, is featured on Australia Awards for her contribution towards COVID-19 recovery efforts through research

Dr. Anuji Gamage, a Senior Lecturer in Paraclinical Department of Faculty of Medicine, has been featured on Australia Awards website as a recognition for her contribution towards COVID-19 recovery efforts through research (see the link below). Dr. Gamage is a public health specialist specialized in Health Economics and Healthcare financing and is an Australia Awards Alumna. She has been involved extensively in COVID-19 control activities in various capacities. Last year Dr. Gamage was awarded the alumni professional development opportunity for JSTOR Annual Subscriptions given by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) Australia. This was instrumental in increasing the accessibility of new global evidence, which encouraged well-timed research.

Dr. Anuji Gamage emphasizes that “what works in one country cannot be directly applied to another. Informed science is essential in healthcare decision-making. Hence, research is an integral component in science and more so in health as it rapidly evolves. Evidence-based decision-making is necessary for policymaking. The providers can capitalize on these evidence-based decisions in managing patients or serving the community.”
