Foundation Laying for New Faculty Building Complex of Faculty of Law of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University

Foundation laying ceremony of the new building of the Faculty of Law was held on 19.08.2021 morning, strictly adhering to the COVID-19 health guidelines. The event was graced by Major General Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil, Vice Chancellor of KDU and other distinguished guests including Deputy Vice Chancellor (Defence and Administration), Dean FoL, Dean FBESS, Military Officers, and Academic, Administrative and Non-academic staff members of the Faculty of Law.
The new building will have four (04) theatre type modern lecture halls of 200 seating capacity, a Mini Theatre with 250 seats, a Law Library, a Moot Court, a Cafeteria, Offices for Academic and, Administrative Staff Members, and other required facilities, which will make the Faculty of Law self-reliant and sustainable to meet the teaching, learning, and assessments needs of a modern Law School of international standards. Construction of the building is undertaken by the Central Engineering Services Limited. The estimated cost of the Project is LKR 501,278,004.00, and it is expected to be completed within a year.
