Handing over six units of UV Air Purifiers to be used in KDU hospital

Six units of UV Air purifiers (UV Air Purifier v2.0) designed and launched on 22nd April in the Ministry of Defence, by the students and the staff of the Faculty of Engineering have been manufactured in KDU and were handed over to the University Hospital Kotelawala Defence University (UHKDU), on 06th May 2020.

This purifier is capable of inactivating airborne pathogens, such as SARS COV-2 virus, using UV-C light. Since this can be used even when the people are in the room, this is very useful in a hospital setup. This product was developed by a group of students AWC Abeygunawardena (SUO), MGSJB Maddegoda (O/C), KDP Anjana (O/C), WHPP Alwis (O/C) Mr Nadun Madanayake (Student) and Mr Naveen Ranasinghe (student), led by Dr. KMGP Premadasa (Senior Lecturer) and Sqn Ldr WNI Yalagama (Lecturer).
