The Annual Mess Night of Intake 37 was conducted on 04th December 2021, at the Officer Cadets’ Mess of General Sir John Kotelawala Defence University. This event was graced by the Vice Chancellor of the University, Major General MP Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc MPhil(Ind) as the chief guest. Deputy Vice Chancellor Defence and Administration, Deputy Vice Chancellor Academics, Registrar, Deans of the faculties, Senior Lecturers, Squadron Commander of Intake 37, Troop Commanders and other Directing Staff also were present. This mess night marked the first ever participation of civil academic staff to a cadets’ mess night at KDU.

This was an opportunity for the Officer Cadets, whose aspire to be future military leaders, to learn about traditional military customs and values. The Vice Chancellor on his address to the gathering brought out the importance of upholding the military customs, the history of the traditional dinner nights and the current progress of the University and its future prospects.

The mess night was organized to mark the completion of the academic tenure of the Officer Cadets of intake 37 who will be leaving for their respective service military academies in January 2022. This was organized under the guidance and supervision of the Dean Faculty of Defence and Strategic Studies, Squadron Commander of Intake 37 and Troop Commanders.

This mess night of Intake 37 was the last event of annual event curriculum of officer cadets of Intake 37 and their last event to celebrate as a whole intake during their stay at KDU.
