“RAAWA” is an iconic event of the annual calendar of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (FAHS) – KDU which serves as a platform to express the visual talents of the students that are otherwise not expressed within the walls of a lecture hall. It was first held in the year 2018, by the students of intake 33 and then, in 2019 by the students of intake 34 of FAHS. The students of intake 35 of FAHS were looking forward to holding “RAAWA” for the 3rd consecutive year in 2020, but due to the unfortunate global pandemic situation, it has to be postponed. Kottahachchi, Dean, FAHS and Dr. Gihani Jayaweera, Coordinator from the academic staff – FAHS for the event. The talent show was perfectly blended with the performance of a wide spectrum of genres of dancing, music and drama performed by the students of intakes 35, 36, 37 and 38 of FAHS. The items streamed in the show were selected following an audition round. Altogether, there were about 20 acts comprising of solo, duet and group performance. The appearance of “yaka” (the devil) added an interesting twist and additional entertainment to the show. The academic staff members of FAHS performed a wonderful signing item to amuse the audience further. The show was live-streamed via Facebook and YouTube reaching several thousands of views and several hundreds of positive comments from the online audience. The faculty handbook 2020/2021 was launched at the same time and the first copy was presented to the Vice-Chancellor by Dr. D.U. Kottahachchi, Dean, FAHS.
