Visit of Deputy Head of Mission – Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka to KDU on 17th March 2021

Maj Gen Milinda Peiris RWP RSP VSV USP ndc psc, the Vice Chancellor KDU hosted Deputy Head of Mission Embassy of Japan in Sri Lanka Toshihiro Kitamura and Defense Attache Capt Gaku Fukaura for a meeting with KDU representation consisting of Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Professor Jayantha Ariyaratne, Col Enoj Herath, Director International Relations Dr Prasanna Premadasa, HOD Department of Strategic Studies Dr Harinda Vidanage, Dr Nilupul Gunasekera, Dr Hemantha Premarathna and Dr Pradeep Kalansooriya represented the KDU Delegation.

            The meeting was held to develop and strengthen bi lateral relations and to explore future collaboration between Japanese defence education establishments, universities and research arms of leading Japanese Corporations.

            Vice Chancellor KDU, provided a full overview of the University and stressed that the University was a unique institution that represented officer cadets and civilian day scholars.

            A constructive discussion took place between the two delegations and various formats of future collaboration were discussed ranging from student/faculty exchanges, research collaboration and events marking Sri Lanka Japan relations 70th anniversary in 2022. Both parties agreed that future dialogue will be maintained to further relations. The Japanese delegation departed after touring the historic General Sri John Kotelawala Memorial Museum at KDU.
